Apollopalooza / The Cover Show
The Cover Show is an annual or semiannual event organized by Jimmy Wiggins. The event features local bands, whether pre-existing or thrown together for the event playing 25-30 minute sets covering the band of their choice. The degree of faithfulness varies from band to band, with some bands putting their own spin on the songs, and some emulating them down to the hairstyles. Either way, the show is one of the most anticipated of the year, and the crowd is usually at or near capacity.
The event had its roots in the Grunge cover show organized by Rosemary Dohan, where bands would play their favourites in that specific genre. Genre-specific cover shows have occurred since for Punk and Metal, but none have succeeded to quite the degree as this format.
