Dr. Destructo

Quick Bio

I am a local guitarist and songwriter that has grown up in Thunder Bay. I have followed the local music scene since I was a young kid and, with the advent of the internet, began to help give local bands exposure on the Internet and free recording time at Revolution Music Studio so that they could get their music heard. I have also played in a few Thunder Bay bands that I am proud of (see Dr. Destructo for a complete list). I originally ran the website www.revolutionmusic.net which published and promoted local mp3's online and attracted national and international traffic. I later started www.baycore.net which is an interactive site for the local Thunder Bay punk and metal communities and continue to administer the site. Professionally, I am employed by a local business to administer the company's networks and servers. I also volunteer at LU Radio as a programmer (DJ) and try to help the station as much as I can with promotion.

Bandwiki Bio

I contributed a lot of info to the original bandwiki that this database was imported from. I recently began doing more administrative work to bandwiki.ca (formerally located at tjernobyl.org/bandwiki). In addition to hosting bandwiki.ca on my private server, I also help the main administrator (Tjernobyl) with administration and try to do as much general formatting as I can to the bandwiki pages. I am also beginning to help categorize the pages on this site and clean up the main page. If you want to discuss any changes that I make to the bandwiki, edit my Discussion page.

Bandwiki Criteria

  • We are still working on the criteria for the varies categories and subcategories on bandwiki.ca
  • Keep in mind that, when I am editing the band pages for inclusion (or exclusion) from various categories, that I take primarily the following two proofs of criteria into account:
    • Primary research (I or someone I know has a copy of a cd, for example)
    • Secondary research (I have inquired and received an answer through local channels)
    • The Band's Existing Bandwiki Page. Of Course, many times the existing bandwiki page is the best source of information about a relatively obscure band, especially if it has been edited by a member of the band. Many times, I will add a band to a certain category based on the band's bandwiki bio. If it says that the band has played a live show, I will probably add it to a relevant category unless I know absolutely that the reverse is true in which case I will edit the bandwiki bio and include some kind of reference.
    • Absence of existing information. If there is no information on the bandwiki bio, I will not include it in a category unless one of the above has been satisfied.
