Biography

Joshua Wilfred Arnold is an artist, author, musician, and former television personality. His earliest recordings were made under the monicker Ecnalubma with friend Geoff Medwid, aka CoffeeMan, aka SeilEurt.

Having always had a profound enthusiasm for music and sound, Joshua began experimenting with electronic music production at the tender age of sixteen. It was around this time that he re-encountered childhood friend Anthony Lauzon, who had simultaneously been entertaining such aspirations as well. From this ideological overlap emerged the collaboration Aeternitas, one of Thunder Bay's earliest innovative electronic acts. Aeternitas went on to play a number of shows, including participation in several of the infamous Close Encounter Productions all-night dance parties, at the much-appreciated request of Dave Shaw (DJ Squid), DJ Sures and Jeff Dubois (DJ JD). Aeternitas released two albums: aBoine aPoine and The Girl Album.

During this period there was a parallel project entitled Rotting Vacations, through which Joshua and Anthony indulged their interest in the more experimental and abstract manipulation of sound - so-called "research and development".

It is also around this time that several interesting, improvisational electronic jam sessions evolved between Arnold, Anthony Lauzon, and local synthesizer warehouse Kevin Sidlar - with fellow good-guy Jon Lesage sitting in on one occasion for good measure. In addition to constructing their own music, Josh and Tony became known for bringing a number of outstanding acts to the attention of Thunder Bay who may otherwise have gone unnoticed. These acts include Burbank and Cromwell, Burbank and Chisel-face, The Grassdads of AR, Shanty Life and Friends, and The Fathers Loved.

Soon Joshua Wilfred would find himself collaborating with local artist/musician/rapscallion Adam Waito on a song for the closing credits of the call-in television program, /Thunder Bay Live! Presents: When Boredom Attacks.../, for which Joshua was also the co-host with reknowned socialite Meghan Krys, aka MissMegs. This program was put on by the Regional Multicultural Youth Center (RMYC) for whom Meghan also coordinated many special shows and performances at their Youth Annex. This collaboration with Adam Waito compelled the two of them to play an improvisational set under the name Underflow. The instruments included a Moog Prodigy, a Roland Jupiter 6, and two broken walkmen.

Josh is firmly against genocide of any kind. Any remarks made by Josh to the contrary were done so under the impression that genocide is a flavour of ice cream. He was tricked.
