1970s, 1980s
Rodney Brown & The Derailers
The Derailers consist of
- Rodney Brown- Vocals and Guitar
- Wayne Breiland- Drums
- Tom Sinkins- Bass
- Sean Mundy- Organ, Harmonica, classical Guitar
- Damon Dowbak- Mandolin
Checking out the headlines, it has indeed been a year for train derailments across the country (with major derailments near Dorion and Red Rock in the past few months) - making Rodney Brown's classic song "The Freight Train Derailed" right in vogue. This tune, from which the group's name was derived, became their signature song and is familiar to all those who were fans of the Derailers in the 70's & 80's. It is also one of the songs recorded (with the Derailers) on Rodney Brown's 1980 release of "When the Bay Turns Blue" which Ian Tamblyn produced.
