History
Apollo Groove Shuttle was a fusion/Jam Band that was active in 95-97 and was part of a new wave of bands oriented around group improvisation and superextended grooves such as Phish and Widespread Panic. Their music blended elements of a wide variety of genres such as rock, jazz, funk, R&B, progressive rock and blues into complex rhythms and continually revolving arrangements. The band often performed at L.U. Pub as well as Crocks n Rolls. They were popular with the Lakehead University crowd and often played organized university events with other bands of similar appeal such as Captain Red Beard (early incarnation of Burt Neilson Band).
The band moved to Nanaimo B.C. after most members were accepted to a Jazz program at Malaspina University. The band dissolved shortly after their studies began.
