Biography

Formed in the Summer of 2009 at Rock Camp. Originally named "Nothing Special", but now known as "A Black Tie Affair". Shortly after forming, "Nothing Special" lost their singer. People have auditioned for the new position as singer, including Cole Larson, but the band fell back on Riley Cummine to do the lead vocals and the lead guitar work for the band.

The band has played many shows, including shows at Black Pirates Pub, Jack's, Kilroy's, and a few other places. In early to mid 2010, the band recorded their first demo song, "I Wanna Come Home" with Dining Room Studios. That has been one of their hit songs since. Other songs that they have written include "Until Today", "Bombshell", "Never Gonna Change", and "Crashing a Funeral" (just to name a few). They are still writing more songs and are looking for shows around the scene, so look out!

In March 2011, the band parted ways with bassist, Dalton Thompson. The band announced later that month that Dan Wingfield would be replacing him. After a few months with bassist Dan Wingfield, Dalton Thompson returned to play bass in September 2011, due to Dan Wingfield leaving to focus more on his schooling.

In December, their drummer, Matt Chase left the band. The band has since gotten Bryce Melville to play drums for them. In the summer of 2012, Dalton quit the band because of school, and they have since got Greg Vahaaho to replace him.

In October 2012, Matt Chase rejoined ABTA (A Black Tie Affair) as drummer and co-manager (beside Riley). He is hoping to rewrite some of the old songs and write some new material. Their first show with him will be November 10, 2012 at Black Pirates Pub.

In April 2013, Matt decided to leave due to conflicts with band members and the style of music "not fitting his style of playing drums". His last show with the band was April 25, 2013
