In Retrospect is the debut album by Swami. The material contained on the record spans nearly 10 years of Swami's musical endeavors, both as a solo artist as well as with bands he has played with. As such, the record could be considered more of a compilation than a proper album. The record was self-financed and made available to the public only through Swami himself. An original pressing of 20 copies were sold out in a short time for $10 each. Subsequent copies of the album were available on demand. The cover art contains a picture of the Thunder Bay Expressway taken by Dave Bevilaqua. The booklet for In Retrospect, printed at Swami's home and assembled at Confederation College, containes 16 pages of track-by-track commentary by the artist.
