Kenneth Moore passed away unexpectedly at age 58, at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre on January 29, 2009. Ken was born on August 10, 1950 in Sudbury Ontario, and was the eldest of 4 sons born to Wilhelmine and Raymond Moore. At a young age Ken's family moved to Thunder Bay. It was obvious early on that he had a gift and a passion for the arts. After being in the first graduating class at Churchill High School, Ken attended Sheridan College and graduated with a diploma in Visual Arts Animation. Ken embarked upon a life immersed in the music and arts industry. In 1997 he went on to graduate from Lakehead University with an honours degree in music.

Ken had the good fortune and talent to be able to devote his entire life to music. He mastered every facet of guitar with a particular passion for Jazz. Throughout his 40 years in the music industry, Ken taught, performed, arranged, produced and composed across the world and touched the hearts and souls of many, many people. Ken had the joy of performing with such artists as Bobby Curtola, The Tommy Banks Orchestra, The Walt Disney Band, Buck Owens, Bob Hope, The Temptations, Mickey Dolenz, Larry Gowan, Jay J Downs and many others. Ken was particularly proud of his live classical recital for CBC radio in the mid 70‘s, and in later years the performance of his self composed concerto by the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra.

For the past five years Ken had been employed as a Solo Jazz Intermissionist with the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines where he performed all the songs he so dearly loved. "It was the best gig I ever had" were his exact words. Cruising to exotic ports and making many special friends was an added bonus.

Ken's other true loves were his family, his cat 'poofy', creating beautiful drawings, spending as much time as possible watching the Toronto Blue Jays and making music with his friends.

Ken was predeceased by his loving mother Wilhelmine. He is survived by his father Raymond, brothers Mickey (Pat), Danny, Randy (Melanie), step brother Karl, step sister Carol (Len), special nieces Rhiah and Kelly, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. A celebration of Ken's life will be held on Sunday February 8, 2009 at the Lakehead University Outpost. Doors will open at 6:00pm with an evening of musical tribute beginning at 7:00pm. Anyone who has been touched by Ken's life is encouraged to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted in Ken's name to a memorial fund for the Lakehead University Music Department.
