In March of 2009, a group of  Thunder Bay musicians came together to form Rock Steady. The band initially included veteran Tbay musicians Dave Campbell on drums, Gord Ellis on guitar and vocals, as well as bass virtuoso Rory Bohler on bass and 22 year old blues slinger Clay Breiland on guitar and vocals.  The band played its first gig at the Apollo in late April of 2009 and was a  hit with the Reggae deprived music lovers of Thunder Bay. A short time later, Clay Breiland’s long time friend and musical kindred spirit Richard Tribe joined the band, and all the pieces slide into place. In early May, the now 5 piece Rock Steady played the Fort William Gardens main stage as the headliner for the folklore festival. Many gigs have followed, and the band has developed an enthusiastic following in Thunder Bay.  Besides playing Marley, Tosh and Jimmy Cliff classics, Rock Steady has also worked in some of Clay Breiland’s brilliant original songs.
