Russ was born and raised in Kenora and has always been an extremely accomplished keyboard player. His musical career began with a band called, The [[Lakers]] who performed regularly at teen dances in Kenora. This name was eventually change to [[The XLs]] and there was always healthy competition between [[Satan and the D-Men]] and Russ�s band.

Shortly before their move to Winnipeg, [[Satan and the D-Men]] were extremely fortunate to obtain Russ�s services which rounded out the band�s great 60�s sound. At that time, the �British Invasion� was well underway and numerous British groups had keyboard players among their ranks. Thanks to Russ and his outstanding talent, we were able to perform these songs like the originals.

This name was eventually change to The XLs and there was always healthy competition between Satan and the D-Men and Russ's band.

Shortly before their move to Winnipeg, Satan and the D-Men were extremely fortunate to obtain Russ's services which rounded out the band's great 60's sound. At that time, the 'British Invasion' was well underway and numerous British groups had keyboard players among their ranks. Thanks to Russ and his outstanding talent, we were able to perform these songs like the originals.
