Soundmen are audio engineers that travel with a band of musicians, or manage the audio equipment for a venue, such as The Spike Coffeehouse. The idea is to control the sound for the entertainers, such that it presents them to the customers in a flatering way. It can be quite complicated in certain rooms. As equipment is getting bigger and better, the task is easier than in the 1960's and 1970's.
