Quinoa - A Gluten Free Diet Alternative

I love quiona and still have been cooking and baking from it for quite some time now. When I first got interested in this healthy grain, I could only find it in small boxes within my grocery store. That was fine while I was learning how to cook quinoa, but at $6 per box, it had been a comprarquinoa.com.es little harmful for a grocery staple, particularly when compared to the price of dry pasta or rice.

Where is it possible to buy quinoa? You can buy quinoa online as a Whole Grain, an all-natural and organic cultivar mostly from Peru and Bolivia; it will always be sold in 12 oz. packages or boxes. It is cooked in mere 10 - 15 minutes, wheat free and gluten free, this makes quinoa the ideal food for many who follow a wheat free and gluten free diet. It is certified organic this means it was planted and cultivated while on an unfertilized and healthy soil.

First, you need to rinse the quinoa. Quinoa includes a coating called saponin which is soapy and bitter tasting. Most commercial packages of quinoa previously gone through a primary rinsing process, yet it's good to go ahead and execute a quick rinse yourself. Just use an excellent mesh strainer or fine cloth and run cool water over the grains while you sift through them with your fingers or a spoon. Quinoa grains are extremely tiny, similar in size to millet. Taste a couple of, and when they are not bitter chances are they are ready.

Secret 4 - There are different types
When I grew some quinoa inside my garden last year I was amazed at the number of varieties inside seed catalogue. There are also no less than 3 different colours. The most common is white quinoa (More a cream colour). You can also have black quinoa and red quinoa. The variety I grew was called rainbow and would be a mix of browns, reds and blacks. The different varieties likewise have different amounts of oils in them and some tend to be crunchy than other.
