George Jones

Instruments

Biography

Hailing from Keewatin, Ontario as well, George was actually the first vocalist in The Tempests. Up to that point, the band was performing strictly instrumentals which was quite acceptable. As new artists appeared on record, vocals gradually took over until a vocalist became a "must" with each and every performing group. George was exactly what the band needed to take them in this new direction.

With little effort, he has always been able to vary his vocal range from the mellow sounds of Cliff Richards, to the in-between sounds of Elvis Presley and up to the highs of Roy Orbison.

This takes tremendous talent and the band was always proud to have a singer at their disposal who could sing almost anything they chose.

Though George didn't remain with the band, including their move to Winnipeg, Manitoba, the other members did not hesitate to ask George to perform at each and every reunion dance they played at.

He has always had his own following of dedicated fans from Keewatin and the surrounding area and is very well known there. It never ceases to amaze everyone how excited the crowd becomes whenever George is called on each year. As unusual as it may seem, given this day and age, the excitement is aroused strictly by his voice rather than his looks. Never one to wear flashy clothes or jump around the stage to any great degree, George is sure to bring back many memories with each performance as he has not lost his vocal touch over the years but rather, has improved by leaps and bounds and still knows how to (knock 'em dead.)

George still resides in Keewatin where he is employed, has raised a family and is a regular wherever Satan and the D-Men perform.
