Biography

Mobius existed in a few different forms beginning in 1991 and ending in the summer of 1994. The band was started by Erik Knudsen who enlisted the help of fellow ski enthusiasts, Mark Rhyno and Greg Rhyno. The band would go through various name changes including: Next of Kin and Mobius Drain. Erik played guitar and sang. When he enlisted the help of his friends, they did not know how to play their instruments. It took a year or so for the band to develop throughout this growth period, and the sound evolved and explored quite a bit. Mark handled bass and Greg took on the skins.

After about a year the rhythm section brothers began to feel and play more confidently. Erik, took on principle writing responsibilities as the band began to play shows around town. Their first official performance was in 1991 at a Hammarskjold Highschool talent show. The boys showed talent and passion and quickly gathered a small following around school.

As the sound progressed, the band decided they wanted to expand things with a second guitarist. Erik enlisted his old friend and sudden free agent Chad Decent. Chad learned all the old songs and quickly came up with a couple of ideas of his own. This lineup would last until the band dissolved less than a year later.

Mobius continued playing shows while experimenting within their framework of dynamic, swirling rock and roll. Although quite productive and growing in popularity, the members grew musically and personally apart. Erik had decided to move to London, Ontario to go to school after graduation, which put an end to the band.
